It's the 21st century now.
I can't believe after all this time,
there's STILL homophobic people
in the world, especially among the
youth. I mean, COME THE FUCK ON
people. how can you still be so
narrow-minded to believe that it's not
part of the person's identity but rather
a choice. THIS MAKES ME SO MAD.
It all started when my roommate and I
were talking about moral challenging
topics (because we're nerds and we like to
think in our spare time). I already knew she
was against same-sex relationships so I tried
to avoid the subject because it upsets me when
people talk down on homosexuality. BUT then
her boyfriend had to meddle in our conversation
and ask us,
"if your child was gay, would you
abandon/disown him/her ?"
I almost had a heart-attak just anticipating her
answer, because I knew it was going to make me
think less of her. And sadly, she did bot disappoint.
she was already pissing me off because she ALWAYS
has her boyfriend over, which he's cool and all but
he's there 24/7 and they always make me feel awkward
and like the third wheel. They're always kissing and
canoodling and whatnot, making me realize that I'll
be FOREVER ALONE. and they do other things that make
me mad, but that's another story.
But anyway, if you haven't guessed, my roommate answered
"yes, I wouldn't approve of that" and right then...I lost a lot
of respect for her. Then I gasped and shouted, "BRENDA."
And she said, "well i would love them, but I would disapprove
and I would teach them not to act on it". "but to UNCONDITIONALLY
love someone is to except them for who they are, regardless.
and besides, you can't just TEACH them to not act on it.
Its not their choice, so it has nothing to do learning to
be gay. It's just like if your parents told you to love someone
of your own sex but you know inside you that you really liked
men." "Well, i believe that God didn't make them gay, so therefore
they were not born with it but chose it later in life. and besides, everything
can be solved by taking them to church." "what is church going to do ?"
"church will teach them the proper way and I'll ask everyone to pray for them."
"So what you're saying is you're going to pray the gay out of them ?
That is the most absurd thing I've heard in my entire life." "Well I tolerate gay
people, but when it becomes my child who is gay, I'll do everything to
put an end to it." "well let's just hope your child isn't gay because that is one
more baby who more than likely will have psychological issues later on"
I fear for her future children. I really do.
Now I'm completely straight, but I 100 percent
support any sexual orientation. just to clarify.

Mood:
Outraged
that's what I'm saying.
My roommate disapproves.
i mean, once people have a belief
that is strongly imbedded in them,
it's very hard to change those views.
*applause*
I just needed to vent.
because it really made
me mad.
my dad is very against
it, saying "the Bible says..."
blah, blah, freakin' blah.
I've read the Bible so many
different times and guess
what ? contrary to popular
belief, nowhere in that book
of holiness does it say anything
remotely CLOSE to what people
claim as "a relationship should
be between a man and a woman
and if its not, it must be wrong".
Besides, I'm not religious, so that
argument for me is a little farfetched.
My mom on the other hand, she's
alright with it. She and i talk about
it all the time and i think she's come
to the conclusion that she's not going
to judge and let God decide whether
its right or wrong. i mean really, thats
the view that all of us should hold.
who are we to decide if homosexuality
is wrong or right and say that those
that engage in same-sex relationships
are "going to hell".
